Internazionale Festival in Ferrara, October 1 - 3
August 2, 2010

I'll be at the Internazionale Festival again this year in Ferrara in early October! This time, though, instead of a talk, I'll be giving a three-day workshop on making comic strips. It should be really fun! Info about the workshop is here.

Gallery Show in Perugia, July 10th - 30th UPDATE
June 28, 2010

Here is the press release and info for my upcoming gallery show in Perugia at Galleria Miomao as well as the show poster:

MIOMAOJAZZ_10
TEDDY BEAR STYLE
The Art of Neil Swaab and Mr. Wiggles

(For Italian translation, click here.)

Mr. Wiggles in Perugia! Neil Swaab, a young master of American comic art especially known as the creator of twisted teddy bear Mr Wiggles, will be the guest star of “MiomaoJazz” 2010, the special event that, every year during the month of july, welcomes in Galleria Miomao an acclaimed international comic artist coinciding with the Umbria Jazz music festival.

For the first time in Europe, a wide selection of comic pages, Mr. Wiggles’ strips, and illustrations about music by Neil Swaab will be on display and available for sale—a rare opportunity to get in touch with an artist who’s internationally famous for his underground, unique style and for his sarcastic depiction of the human condition in his “Mr. Wiggles” comic strips. Violence, alcoholism, drug addiction, and sexual pervertions are the recurring subjects of the surreal dialogues between Neil, the only ‘human being’ regularly appearing in the strip, and his stuffed ‘double’, Mr. Wiggles, a politically incorrect teddy bear who, with his innocent and naif approach to reality, calls attention to the contradictions and hypocrisies of a society which officially condemns the very same behaviours that it practically encourages.

Neil Swaab has also drawn the exhibition’s poster that will be on sale in a limited edition of 100 signed and numbered copies. The artist will be present on july the 10th at the exhibition’s opening.
